Gil Bellows

Gil Bellows (born June 28, 1967 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian actor .

Life

Bellows studied in Los Angeles at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts . He made his debut in the film The First Season (1988); in the film drama The Condemned (1994) he starred on the side of Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman . He became known worldwide through the role of Billy Thomas in the television series Ally McBeal , which he played from 1997 to 2002. For this role he was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award from 1998 to 2000 together with the rest of the acting ensemble , which he received in 1999 together with Calista Flockhart , Peter MacNicol and Courtney Thorne-Smith , among others .

In the thriller Judas Kiss (1998), Bellows played opposite Emma Thompson . He appeared alongside Val Kilmer in the thriller Blind Horizon (2003) .

Bellows has been married to actress Rya Kihlstedt since 1994 and has two children.
