Extraterrestrial: Do not come in peace is an American horror film from the year 2014 .

action

The film begins with a panicked woman who had sought refuge in a phone booth being sucked into the sky by a beam of light.

Alex and her boyfriend Kyle plan a weekend at April's parents' remote mountain cabin. Kyle has invited her friends Melanie, Seth and his friend Lex to do this. On the way to the cabin, Seth sets off fireworks in the car, drawing Sheriff Murphy's attention to the group. He stops the vehicle and warns the group not to do anything stupid, in the recent past there have been strange incidents anyway. When they arrive at the hut, the young people begin to celebrate with alcohol and marijuana they got from the nearby farm from Travis, a friend of April's parents. Kyle later proposes marriage to April, but she refuses and hurts him deeply.

In the evening they notice a glowing object that crashes in the forest. They want to come to the aid of the victims of the alleged plane crash. Once at the crash site, however, the friends have to discover that it is by no means an airplane, but rather a crashed UFO . Clearly non-human footprints lead from the wreck into the forest. Back in their hut, the friends discuss what to do after the incredible discovery. When the power went out and April shot one of the aliens, the consensus was soon found to leave the hut as soon as possible. However, the only road is blocked by a severed and fallen tree. Then suddenly another UFO appears, sucks Lex into its interior in a beam of light and destroys the car. In a panic, the remaining four flee blindly into the forest. By chance they find Travis' farm again, who offers them shelter and tells them his theory: Since the Roswell incident , the US government has had a kind of contract with the aliens, according to which they leave the earth completely undisturbed as long as humanity does not support them interferes with their experiments, the traces of which the government will remove. April broke this contract by shooting an alien so that they are now out for revenge. They then use radar to notice a UFO landing nearby. April's group flees while Travis faces the fight, in which he is killed or kidnapped.

Back in their hut, the friends barricade themselves. Sheriff Murphy and Deputy Mitchell later request entry, but Seth shoots them because he thinks they are aliens. The friends then try to convince the officers of what they have experienced. However, they remain skeptical and arrest Seth. Only after Murphy almost shoots one of the aliens in the barn and finds Melanie's dog, he believes Seth and blames the aliens for the disappearance of his wife. Back in the police car where Seth is being held by Mitchell, one of the aliens appears and uses mind control to force Murphy to shoot Mitchell and then himself. Seth can escape. However, he loses his nerve, separates from his friends and tries to reach a safe place on foot. In the forest he is attacked by an alien and kidnapped into the spaceship.

The remaining three are then attacked in the hut. Melanie and April are locked in the basement for their own protection by Kyle while he sacrifices himself and distracts the aliens upstairs. He is caught and kidnapped. Meanwhile, Melanie has killed herself with an overdose of tranquilizers in the basement to avoid being kidnapped. April is now determined to face the aliens, but the ship is just leaving. When she discovers that Kyle has been kidnapped, she uses fireworks to attract their attention and bring them back. It is then sucked into the ship with the beam of light. There she finds herself and other people in a kind of cocoon. The others, however, are all dead. In another part of the ship, medical experiments are carried out on Seth with a kind of robot. He dies on a rectal exam . Meanwhile, April found Kyle and was able to revive him. But they are discovered by the aliens.

In the next scene, April and Kyle wake up in the woods, seemingly peaceful and saved. On their way out of the forest they meet soldiers and US agents, both of whom are shot. Lying dying, April gives Kyle the engagement ring, who puts it on her finger. Both are then finally killed and burned by headshots, while US agents ensure that there is no further witness or evidence for the incident.

publication

The budget was estimated at $ 3 million. On April 18, 2014, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival . It was released on Blu-Ray and DVD on May 12, 2014.

criticism

The reviews were largely negative. IndieWire gave the film a C- and cited it as an example of "how not to make a horror movie". The horror film fan media Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting both complained that the film used too worn-out clichés. Oliver Armknecht from film-rezensions.de wrote: “The struggle for survival of a group of young people against mysterious extraterrestrials is so full of clichés and well-known mechanisms that it is immediately forgotten afterwards. This is often effective and in the end even disturbing, otherwise "extraterrestrial" is completely interchangeable. "

In contrast, Den of Geek had a somewhat positive review, attesting the film as having "clever visual effects that can occasionally detract from its mediocrity."
