Michael Ironside (born February 12, 1950 in Toronto , Ontario ; actually Fred Ironside ) is a Canadian actor .

biography

Ironside grew up in an extended family. After initially working as a cleaner, he studied at the Ontario College of Art and soon got his first role as a leading actor in the film Look back in Anger . At the beginning of his acting career, he ran a roofing company with his brother. In the course of his career he played in more than 250 film and television productions, including many series and numerous B-movies .

After moving to Los Angeles in 1982, Ironside played predominantly sinister and morally ambivalent roles, often including police officers and soldiers.

In 1982 he was nominated for the Genie Award for Scanners - Your Thoughts Can Kill as Best Supporting Actor. He was nominated at the Gemini Awards in 1989 for One Boy, One Wolf, One Summer , in 2002 for the miniseries The Last Chapter and in 2003 for the follow-up series The Last Chapter II: The War Continues .

His best-known roles are likely to be as judge in Total Recall (1990) as film contender for Arnold Schwarzenegger and lover of film partner Sharon Stone and as tough platoon leader Lt. Be Jean Rasczak in Starship Troopers (1997). Since the beginning of his career, Ironside has appeared in several supporting roles (e.g. in Top Gun alongside Tom Cruise ) in films and television series (e.g. V - The extraterrestrial visitors are coming ).

He also lent Sam Fisher , the hero of the computer game series Splinter Cell , up to the fifth part of the series, in the original his voice. In 2007 he can be seen in the PC game Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars as GDI General Jack Granger. There is also a reference to him in the expansion " Kane's Revenge ". There an “Experimental Ironside Transporter” appears in one of the missions.

Ironside has a daughter from her first marriage who was born in 1974. He has been married to his second wife since 1986. Their daughter was born in 1998.
