action

In the year 2205 the earth's resources are used up. Humanity is expanding in space. During this expansion, however, she came across a number of extraterrestrial life forms with vampiric properties that humans need for food. To destroy this threat, a number of elite military fighters by the name of V-San (Vampire Sanitation) are sent out, whose task it is to wipe out vampire clans in the galaxy.

The team of the spaceship Heironymous consists of Captain Churchill, the two daredevils Rosa and Roman, the half-vampire Quintana and the newcomer Damian. When the captain dies during a mission on Basra 14, Damian of all people is appointed captain, who is now busy putting an end to the crew's quarrels. To make matters worse, the crew blames him for the captain's death. From Basra 14 they take Fiona Kennedy, a scientist, to a nearby transit station. A short time later this station is wiped out by a parasite-like vampire. Fiona is suspected.

Damian is able to convince his crew to pursue the woman on her escape. Fiona belongs to a kind of " Greenpeace " for vampires and has allied herself with the vampire Mucus. On a desert planet, Fiona and Mucus set a trap for the crew. Damian has to compete against Churchill, who has since become a vampire. With the help of the crew, he can kill both Churchill and Mucus.

Reviews

In the opinion of many critics, the TV production is a film that is not very convincing, not only because of the low budget. In particular, the performance of Michael Ironside as the villain Mucus could hardly convince and fell short of expectations.

However, some critics still refer to Bloodsuckers as one of the few in-house productions by Syfy that can entertain, which is mainly due to the unusual character drawing, the interesting story and the surprisingly harsh splatter effects . The lexicon of international films therefore also described the film as "self-deprecating science fiction horror that entertains on a high television level."

“You definitely shouldn't underestimate this film, even if the cover and synopsis don't really promise much. In the end, "Bloodsuckers" ca n't hold a candle to the comparable " Blade " trilogy, but should actually completely inspire its fans. Finally, there is slaughter here to excess (albeit with a few major interruptions), and this always at a highly acceptable level. For a TV production in this genre, "Bloodsuckers" turned out to be really great. In any case, B-goods looks completely different ... "
