Tiberium Wars ( ger .: for Tiberium Wars ) is the third part of the Command - & - Conquer Tiberium computer game series and set in the year 2047. The game was officially announced on 20 April 2006 by EA, the release date was in the US March 28, 2007 and March 29, 2007 in the EU. It was published in two different versions. First in a modified normal version and in the uncut Kane edition , which is therefore not censored in Germany either. In addition, the Kane edition is multilingual and can therefore be played in several languages (German, English, French).
action
The conflict between the GDI and Nod is again the background to the plot. Kane has returned and is stronger than ever. He succeeds in destroying the GDI space station Philadelphia in space. The GDI is therefore severely weakened because its headquarters were on board. First, great chaos breaks out within the GDI troop units, as most of the communication channels ran via the Philadelphia. Furthermore, at the time of the attack, almost all important personalities on earth and the military leaders of the GDI were on board. The player can take on the role of a GDI Commander and try to restore order and defend himself against the Brotherhood of Nod or conquer the world with the Brotherhood. At the end of Tiberium Wars , as with Command & Conquer: Operation Tiberian Sun - Firestorm , the storylines of the individual campaigns come together. This means that this time all campaigns deal with the same events from a different perspective. An exception is the GDI, where you can see an alternative ending, but this is only minimally different as it has no far-reaching consequences (in the last mission you can either simply destroy the Scrin headquarters with a large bomb and kill millions of dead civilians in Buy it or, the more difficult variant, without the bomb. The only difference is in two different videos that allude to the consequences, but otherwise have no influence). A possibility for a continuation has already been added. A third party, the so-called Scrin , also interferes in the conflict . This faction is an alien life form believed to be responsible for the appearance of Tiberium on Earth. The buildings and weapons of the Scrin are very similar to insectoid life forms and sometimes also to marine life. The actual look of the Scrin can be seen in the cutscenes. However, the Scrin can only be played in the campaign after the other two parties have played through. In the game itself there seems to be some evidence of Command & Conquer: Red Alert . So you can see the Allied logo on various freight containers, which apparently serves as a kind of “second logo” for the GDI. The logo of the GDI from Tiberian Sun can also be seen. Furthermore, you can see an interview between the news presenter and a woman from Future Tech Corp. in a GDI video. (known from C&C AR 3).
Innovations
Zoning has been added. Red zones are completely uninhabitable, as they were completely destroyed by the spread of the Tiberium and the repeated ion storms in these zones. In the yellow zones, the Tiberium contamination has not progressed that far, but these zones are up to 80% uninhabitable due to the 50 Years War, and the blue zones are largely free of tiberium. However, there is also Tiberium in the blue zones in the game, but the spread varies enormously in contrast to the yellow and red zones.
Units can now be combined, as in C&C Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Vengeance . This “unlocks” special attack strengths. However, not all units can benefit from this ability. The Brotherhood of Nod's “Avatar” mech can upgrade with a mobile stealth generator and various weapons, such as a flamethrower. However, this must be taken from the corresponding unit - in this case the "Flame" tank - which results in the death of the tank. Every Scrin vehicle can also be combined with a swarm of razor blades called a "buzzer", which makes the vehicle more efficient in the fight against opposing infantry. However, their combat power was significantly weakened after the first patch.
The extremely popular "Mammut" tank and EVA, the GDI's central computer, are also back in the game. Classic elements like the MBF and the sidebar are integrated again in the game.
Some of the “old” units such as the “Stealth” tank from Nod and the “Juggernaut” of the GDI have been preserved. But new ones have also been added. Overall, however, the proportion of 'Mechs and underground units in the Brotherhood of Nod was greatly reduced, which can be seen as a break in continuity with the Tiberian Sun.
The developers tried hard to explain breaks for the fans. So producer Mike Verdu discusses some of these problems on his blog on the official C & C3 page. The disappearance of most of the GDI technologies from Tiberian Sun is explained by the fact that the GDI relies more on research into space technologies. The Tiberium has also received a completely new background and behavior. The entire game is based more on the first C & C title, The Tiberiumkonflikt than on the successor Tiberian Sun . This is more than clearly reflected in the unit and building design and in many other areas. However, this was criticized by many fans because, despite the attempts at explanation, there are many illogical changes and retrograde developments (no Tiberium flora and fauna, no natural ion storms in the game and the abandonment of various technologies such as the firestorm wall).
In combat mode, the game type of the opposing AI can be set. Rushen, Einigeln, Steamroller, Guerilla and Balanced are available.
The multiplayer mode can be used with up to 8 players who can talk through VoIP .
There are over 35 individual missions, with the Scrin campaign only comprising four missions and these are very short.
For this part of the C&C series there are again film sequences with real actors. Well-known Hollywood stars like Michael Ironside (" Starship Troopers "), Tricia Helfer , Grace Park (both " Battlestar Galactica "), Josh Holloway (" Lost "), Jennifer Morrison (" Dr. House ") and Billy Dee Williams (" Star Wars ”) slip into the roles of different game characters. EA also hired John Huck and Shanon Cook , two well-known reporters who also play this role in the game. Additionally, Joseph D. Kucan , the actor who played the lead role of the opaque leader of the Brotherhood of Nod in the C&C series, has resumed his role as Kane in C&C 3.
censorship
The German USK-16 version shows small differences compared to the German version without youth approval. The term “nuclear weapons” was replaced by “aurora missiles”. The voice output has also been adapted accordingly. However, nothing has been changed in terms of the effect and presentation of the weapon in the game. The censored version also still contains a warning sign of radioactive substances. Furthermore, the unit of the "fanatic" was replaced by that of the "demolition master". While the fanatic on the unit symbol carries a bomb on his body, the demolition officer holds it in his hand. Furthermore, the animation in the uncensored version is that of a suicide bomber. In the censored version, the unit escapes after “throwing away” the bomb at the target.
However, the units are used the same in both versions and are lost when used.

Reviews
"[...] Compared to its predecessor, it has only been changed cautiously and, above all, more beautiful. A background story connecting the plot with first-class actors (unfortunately disastrously dubbed), clearly pepped up, contemporary graphics and varied game tasks make the title a potential success product.
[...] Again, the player is annoyed by strangely cheeky units that are suddenly attacked by the suicide virus in the thick of the crowd and dash into the opposing fire. Furthermore, the sensitive harvesting machines sometimes consider it a smart idea to simply drive to the enemy camp when there is a shortage of Tiberium and harvest ore there - and then the enemy will tear you apart in fractions of a second. And their own units like to watch while their comrades next door fight for survival in the hail of bullets. In the face of so much stupidity in their own ranks, the player whirls wildly across the battlefield to form a strong army out of this headless troop. In spite of this, or perhaps because of it: The fight for Tiberium is not an easy job, but a really "good" challenge for cool generals with skill and quick comprehension. "

The expansion Kane's Wrath (ger .: Kane's Wrath to German Kane's Wrath ) was published on March 27 of 2008. It includes a new campaign that can only be played on the Nod site. 20 years within the Tiberium universe are included. As a player, you are not again a nameless commander of Nod, but LEGION , Kane's new AI, which is based on CABAL , but is clearly superior to him. The first part of the campaign starts shortly after Tiberian Sun: Firestorm and is intended to eliminate many logic errors and ambiguities. Kane's return to power is the main theme. The second part of the campaign takes place parallel to the Nod campaign in Tiberium Wars , the background of Kane's brief immersion and the apparent betrayal of Qatar are the subject. The third part of the campaign covers a period after the main game and starts in 2052.
Innovations
All three parties have received sub-factions. "ZOCOM" (Zone Operations Command) and "Steel Talons" are available for the GDI, while "Kane's disciples" and "The Black Hand" are available for the Brotherhood of Nod. The Scrin were reinforced with "Reaper-17" and "Traveler-59". These factions (similar to the various generals in C&C Generals) have special units and abilities, but have to do without others.
There are also three "Epic Units", which are the strongest units in the game. At GDI it is the "MARV", a giant tank with triple gun, bunker for four infantry units and the ability to collect Tiberium. Nod can boast with the "Redeemer", a powerful walker with a triple laser cannon and a "rage generator" that forces enemy units to attack themselves. The Scrin can build an "Eradicator Hexapod", a six-legged monster that can earn the owner credits by destroying enemy units.
Overall, more high tech has also been added to GDI and Nod again. The GDI has sound tanks and hovercrafts again , the Brotherhood of Nod has artillery again. The Scrin received some more specialized units.
action
As a player, you slip into the role of LEGION - an AI developed by Kane on the basis of a Tacitus splinter , as it turns out later . The plot is divided into three acts:
- first act
The first act is linked to the action of Tiberian Sun to. On behalf of the masked Kane they begin to reunite the divided brotherhood. In particular, Brother Marcion , who usurped the leadership of the “Black Hand” through the murder of Anton Slavik , stands in the way of these plans. Shortly after Marcion's capture, Kane deactivates LEGION because he no longer needs him for the time being.
- Second act
The second act begins shortly before the third Tiberium War. Kane activates LEGION together with his abbess Alexa Kovacs because he needs it for his preparations. Among other things, you have to ensure that Redmond Boyle takes over the leadership of the GDI. Alexa tries to expose Kilian Qatar as a traitor and gives LEGION the order to attack the Prime Temple in Kilian's name. Meanwhile, the GDI is trying to bring the Tacitus to safety. Because of the special connection that exists between LEGION and the Tacitus, Kane can track him down. Shortly before LEGION can bring Tacitus to safety, Alexa infects him with a virus because she fears that LEGION would betray the brotherhood with Tacitus like CABAL once did. Kane, who is disappointed by Alexa's doubts and fear, has her arrested, but she can tear herself away and shoots herself. At the same time, LEGION's system crashes.
- Third act
A few years after the third Tiberium War, LEGION wakes up because Tacitus calls him. Nod has been almost completely destroyed, with only a few loyal followers left to Kane. As a result of the GDI's experiments with the Tacitus, it is unstable and threatens to destroy itself. After LEGION has awakened "Kane's disciples", a cybernetic army developed by Kane since the first Tiberium War, he can secure Tacitus. Thereupon Kane LEGION merges with the Tacitus. The following video contains a message from the Scrin announcing an invasion.
novel
On May 29, 2007 a novel written by Keith RA DeCandido was published, which is based on the computer game Tiberium Wars . The German translation was published by Panini Verlag on October 11, 2007. The main characters of the book are the GDI soldier Ricardo Vega, the protagonist of Tiberium , the W3N reporter Annabella Wu and Battle Commander Michael McNeil from Tiberian Sun .
content
The story takes place during the third Tiberium War and simultaneously with the computer game of the same name. Several characters from Tiberium Wars also appear, such as Kane, Lieutenant Sandra Telfair, General Jack Granger and W3N reporter Cassandra Blair.
The first chapter is about the last conference at the GDSS Philadelphia before it was destroyed by Nod with nuclear missiles. A large part of the GDI directors and officials as well as Doctor Ignatio Möbius, one of the leading Tiberium scientists, died in this attack.
The story then switches back and forth several times between the GDI soldier Ricardo Vega and the W3N reporter Annabella Wu. The book is about the actions of Battle Commander Michael McNeil's 22nd Infantry Division and their fight against Nod and the Scrin. The sections on Annabella Wu tell the impact of Tiberium on life in the Yellow Zone G-6. In the end, both storylines merge when Annabella Wu creates a war report on the 22nd Infantry Division.
differences
- Doctor Ignatio Möbius dies in the destruction of the Philadelphia, not an ion storm.
- Annihilator tripods cannot be damaged by conventional weapons (bullets, grenades, and even railguns ).
