Gemini Award

The Gemini Award was an award for the best English language television films and television series in Canada . The television award was comparable to the Emmy Award in the USA . It was founded by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television . The French-Canadian counterpart was the Prix ​​Gémeaux .

The first award ceremony took place in 1986. Gemini Awards were presented annually in Toronto , Ontario in 87 categories. Every year one or more artists were honored with the Earle Gray Award for life's work . The statue was designed by designer Scott Thornley.

In 2013, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television's Gemini Awards and Genie Awards were replaced by the new Canadian Screen Awards .
