Hülhoven is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Heinsberg , the westernmost district town in Germany.

Hülhoven is a classic street village with several farms and consists of a few streets: Hülhovener Straße , Wälkesberg , Muldenweg and Hinter Halfes . The place is located between the Heinsberg districts of Eschweiler and Dremmen on Landstrasse 228.

history

Hülhoven was first mentioned in a document in 1202. A baronial family has been based in Hülhoven since the beginning of the 18th century . Beer has been brewed in Hülhoven since 1865, and the brewery existed under different names (1888 Johann Hermans brewery, 1904 Peter Minkenberg brewery, 1920 Lambert Minkenberg brewery) into the 20th century. In 1866 over half of the village was destroyed in a major fire. For more than 100 years, Hülhoven had its own elementary school, which was closed on June 30, 1969.

For a long time Hülhoven belonged to the Catholic parish of Dremmen. After a long struggle, the Aachen Bishop Pohlschneider decided at Easter 1954 to separate the places Eschweiler, Grebben and Hülhoven and the settlement Hartenbauer from the parish of Dremmen and to make them an independent parish. In the meantime, Hülhoven belongs to the Community of Communities (GdG) consisting of:

House Hülhoven

House Hülhoven is worth mentioning , around 1610 it was owned by Johan von Hülhoven. In 1651 it came into the ownership of Gisbert von Hülhoven, imperial bailiff and commander of Sittard (1656–1657). He and his brother also owned half of the Loherhof near Uetterath. The other half of this estate was owned by Johan Speel. In 1654 Johan Ludwig van Olmissen (also Mülstroe or Muelstroe ) became feudal lord of Hülhoven and owner of the house. He was a son of Anna von Hülhoven, daughter of Otto Wilhelm. Haus Hülhoven was rebuilt in its current form around 1700 by Baron Mulart (also Mulert ) von Hülhoven. In the 19th century it became the property of the district administrator and baron Bernhard Paul Friedrich Hugo von Scheibler , whose descendants continue to live there.

In the immediate vicinity of Hülhoven, the Heinsberg-Lindern railway line crosses the Wurm lowlands .

Bus line 493 runs through Hülhoven, which creates a connection on different routes between the city of Heinsberg and Lindern train station . The districts of Schafhausen, Eschweiler, Oberbruch, Hülhoven, Dremmen, Porselen, Horst and Randerath are served.
