Unterbruch is a district of Heinsberg in the district of Heinsberg and is located east of this district town.

The village had 2358 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2004). Its area is 6.53 km².

Interruption lies between the two rivers Rur and Wurm at a height of 36 m above sea level. NN and was therefore often hit by floods in the past.

The village does not have a closed settlement area, but has grown together from a large number of hamlets, settlements and farmsteads to form a loose network. These include B. Alte Schmiede , Fell , Genoth , Girmen , Haag , Horsterhof , Küpper , Rohmen , Rolland , Rur or Rurhof .

The first documented mention of the interruption dates back to January 17, 1269 . The certificate was made because Gottfried von Schafhausen sold his farm on the Rur (the Horsterhof) to the provost von Heinsberg. The Horsterhof was probably founded in the late Carolingian era ( 751 - 911 ) and served as a Fronhof . In the year 1299 Dietrich von Heinsberg relieved all monastery property from their feudal obligation in exchange for an annual interest of seven schillings.

On July 1, 1969, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Heinsberg as part of the municipal reform. Part of the area came to Oberbruch-Dremmen .
