Parkland (Cross-reference: Parkland - The Assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy ) is an American film from 2013 . The historical drama tells the hectic events that followed the assassination of John F. Kennedy . The script was written by Peter Landesman, who also directed. Producers were Tom Hanks , Gary Goetzman and Bill Paxton , as well as Matt and Nigel Sinclair. The film is based on the book Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy by Vincent Bugliosi .

Parkland tells of the events immediately after the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 from very different perspectives: starting with the young doctors and nurses at the eponymous Parkland Memorial Hospital , the local hospital in Dallas; also the head of the Secret Service Dallas office; a hobby filmmaker who inadvertently made the " most famous and most analyzed film recording of all time "; the FBI -Agenten who had to recognize that the alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald few days had been before the act with them; his brother, Robert Oswald, who had to come to terms with his broken family in the face of the crime; and last but not least Kennedy's security officer, who witnessed both the death of the president and the rise of Lyndon B. Johnson as the new "most powerful man in the world".

The film received mixed reviews and Rotten Tomatoes reached Parkland worth an average of 48%. In the Internet Movie Database was Parkland rated 6.3.

Production began in Austin , Texas in January 2013 . Peter Landesman (screenwriter and director of the historical drama) commented in the newspaper USA Today , an online magazine Deadline.com and the trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter , the film does not go to the numerous conspiracy theories , which since Kennedy's assassination to the events of that day tendril.

Parkland celebrated its premiere during the 70th International Film Festival in Venice . It was also shown during the 38th TIFF . As the 2013 Kennedy assassination marks the 50th anniversary, the film was shown in cinemas in the United States from October 4, 2013. The German theatrical release was planned for December 13, 2013. On the occasion of the aforementioned memorial day, however, the German-language television broadcaster ProSieben included the film in its evening program on November 22, 2013 at prime time.
