Jackie Earle Haley (born July 14, 1961 in Northridge , California ) is an American actor and film director .

Life

Haley's father was an actor and presenter who worked for a radio station. Jackie Earle Haley started appearing in television commercials as a six-year-old. In 1972, he starred in the television series Wait Till Your Father Gets Home . In the Franco-Italian-American thriller Brutal Shadows (1972) he appeared alongside Jean-Louis Trintignant , Roy Scheider and Angie Dickinson . In the science fiction thriller Straße der Verdammnis (1977) he played one of the bigger roles alongside Jan-Michael Vincent and George Peppard . In the 1990s he interrupted his acting career and worked as a producer of commercials for television. It has its own production company, JEH Productions in San Antonio ( Texas ).

Haley won the New York Film Critics Circle Award , the Chicago Film Critics Association Award , the San Francisco Film Critics Circle Award , the Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association Award, and the Southeastern Film for his role as a pedophile in the drama Little Children (2006) Critics Association Award . He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Oscar .

In 2009, Haley played the dreaded hero Rorschach in the film adaptation of the DC graphic novel Watchmen . In 2010 he took on the role of cult horror character Freddy Krueger in the remake of the film A Nightmare on Elm Street . From 2010 to 2011 he played one of the leading roles in the series Human Target . In the remake of the 2014 science fiction film RoboCop , he played the role of the robot instructor Mattox .

In 2015, Haley made his directorial debut with the thriller Criminal Activities . He also plays the role of Gerry there .

Haley married twice (three times, according to some sources) and has a son and daughter.
