Funny face
Funny Face is a musical comedy with music by George Gershwin and lyrics by Ira Gershwin . The book is by Fred Thompson and Paul G. Smith. The musical, produced by Alexander A. Aarons and Vinton Freedley , premiered on November 22, 1927 at the Alvin Theater in New York . The British premiere took place on November 8, 1928 at Prince's (today: Shaftesbury) Theater in London's West End .

Fred Astaire and his sister Adele played the lead roles on Broadway and in the West End of London. After problems with the tryouts , Paul G. Smith was brought in as an author. B. Changed the working title Smarty to Funny Face , nicknamed Fred Astaires for his sister.
Adaptations
- In the 1981 Goodspeed Opera House adaptation (East Haddam / Connecticut), produced by Michael P. Price, the guardian and ward (the main roles) become brother and sister in the adaptation by Alfred Uhry .
- 1983's My One and Only is a Broadway rewrite thatusesthe bulk of the Funny Face score.

Frankie Wynne is a wild young woman. Jimmy Reeve her guardian. Frankie wants to wear her jewelry, Jimmy would rather have it in his safe. Frankie's admirer Peter Thurston is now supposed to steal the treasures. The two crooks Dugsie and Herbert, disguised as butlers, have the same intention. In the end, Peter succeeds despite the competition, and the prize is his marriage to Frankie.
