Quod anniversarius

Quod anniversarius is an encyclical written by Pope Leo XIII. On the occasion of his 50th jubilee as a priest, he addressed the world with this encyclical on April 1, 1888, to all patriarchs, primas, archbishops, bishops and church dignitaries of the world.

After the greeting and thanksgiving formula, he names the day of his priestly ordination a “memorable day”, and during his long priesthood it would have been shown that despite all adverse circumstances it has been proven that the Church has retained “her divine life”.

For the following September of the year 1888 he ordered that a special holy mass for the dead with the rite of remembrance of all souls should be celebrated in all churches of the world .

At the end of this "priest jubilee year" he published the encyclical Exeunte iam anno on December 25, 1888 with the subtitle: "On the right order of the Christian life".
