Vi è ben noto is the title of an encyclical written by Pope Leo XIII. sent to the Italian episcopate on September 20, 1887 , it is entitled: "On the Rosary and public life".

“It is well known to you” (Vi è ben noto…), the Pope begins, “which salvation and prosperity can arise through the glorious Virgin of the Rosary for the people of Christ, for the peace and tranquility of the Church”. He also calls for the intensification of the rosary prayers within all Italian dioceses for the coming month of October .

The Italian people in particular were of particular importance, because it was their country in whose capital the Successor of Peter had been appointed vicar of the Catholic Church.

Finally, the call follows to confront the "evil" and to eliminate the "evil" of this world. He therefore ordered that the rosary should be performed in a double cycle.
