Christi noun

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The encyclical Christi nomen ("the name of Christ") was published on December 24, 1894. Pope Leo XIII. writes about the spread of the faith and the Eastern Churches.

Tasks and help in the spread of the faith, but also the increasing separation of the Eastern churches from the Roman Catholic Church prompt Leo XIII. to the following statements:

  • The first and most important task is the spread of the faith, given in the name of Christ. His predecessors had emphatically pointed out in their exhortations , that is why the spread of the faith had to be promoted emphatically. This task prompts the Pope to direct his particular attention to the churches of the East and to the cohesion of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • It must be ensured that the Eastern Christians adhered to the Catholic faith with special doctrine and piety. It is therefore an important task of the bishops to spread the faith. You have to open the houses and support the education of the youth.
  • True knowledge of faith opens up opportunities for better training, and special means can be used to achieve this goal. The Catholic community must be expanded so that the schools of the East can participate in the growth of society.
