Caritatis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Caritatis is an encyclical from Pope Leo XIII. , with which he turned to the Polish bishops on March 19, 1894 to write “about the Church in Poland”.

The political, cultural and industrial upheavals prompted the Pope to write about the Church in Poland. In this encyclical he placed the utility of religion at the center of his considerations.

He encourages people to adhere to religion and to obey the rules and commandments. He recalls that it is a parental duty to raise their children in the faith and to give them a Christian education. It is important to strictly adhere to the requirements of the seminary and the curriculum must follow biblical and disciplined rules.

All these requirements must be made with love and respect and it is important, as described in the encyclical Rerum novarum , that the social character must be in the foreground. He advises the Polish people not to forget their roots , despite living under foreign rule (see main article Poland - “Suppression and struggle for independence”), and finally he assures the people of papal support.
