The Tick is an American superhero - Comedy Series , which Amazon Video is published. Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman can be seen in the leading roles . The pilot episode was released in the US on August 18, 2016. A second season appeared on April 5, 2019. Then the series was discontinued.

In 1908, Superian appeared above the Tunguska, the first superhero on earth. When the crime is rampant, nearly invulnerable superhero emerges The Tick ( German : the tick ) in his blue suit in "the city" on. He befriends the accountant Arthur Everest, whose dramaturgical sidekick he becomes, although he thinks Arthur is his sidekick. He has no superpowers of his own, but draws special skills from a high-tech suit that gives him the appearance of a moth . Together with the antihero Overkill , they find out that the super villain The Terror , believed to be dead , who is also responsible for the death of Arthur's father, is still alive. Even his former "right hand" Miss Lint did not know this.

In March 2016, Amazon ordered a pilot episode of the series. In September 2016, a 12-episode first season was ordered. The film was shot in New York City , among others . Amazon released a second season on April 5, 2019.
The series was discontinued after the second season.

The pilot episode was released in the US on August 18, 2016 by Amazon Video . Another five episodes followed on August 25, 2017, while the remaining six episodes of the first season were shown from February 23, 2018.
The first six episodes were first published in German on October 13, 2017 on Amazon Video.

reception
In his review in Forbes magazine for the first half of the season, Rob Salkowitz attests to the series that it has "the ingredients for success" and that the first part makes you want more. The characters could be shed deeper with better scripts.
Tim Goodman also sees it in his review in The Hollywood Reporter as an "obstacle" that the developing story was told in the first half of the season without much zeal. He honors the acting achievements of the leading actors.
At Rotten Tomatoes, the previous half of the season received a positive rating of 92% and a user rating of 88%.
