Peter Szymon Serafinowicz [ sɛrəˈfɪnəwɪtʃ ] (born July 10, 1972 in Liverpool , Merseyside , England ) is a British actor , comedian , voice actor and screenwriter .

Life

Peter Serafinowicz began his career in 1993 in the mockumentary The Knowledge , which was broadcast on BBC Radio 1 . This was followed by appearances in various series on Radio 4 until he made the leap to television in the late 1990s. He played the role of Dean Yardley on How Do You Want Me? which aired from 1998 to 1999.

Due to his deep and eclectic voice, Serafinowicz spoke in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace the role of Darth Maul , who was played by stuntman Ray Park . That same year he had a role in the short-lived comedy series World of Pub .

Together with Robert Popper , Serafinowicz produced the program Look Around You , for which both wrote the script and music . It was based on the short film Calcium , which the comedians released in 2001. The first season of Look Around You , a parody of instructional videos from the 1970s and 1980s with ten-minute episodes, aired on BBC Two in 2002 and was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award in the category best comedy show in 2003 . In 2005 a second season was produced, which now mainly parodied the science show Tomorrow's World . The now 30-minute format received the Rose d'Or for best comedy in 2006 .

From 2003 to 2004 Serafinowicz played a leading role in the comedy series Hardware . His first appearance as an actor in a movie was in the award-winning zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright , after he had appeared in three episodes as Duane Benzie in their comedy series Spaced .

While in Los Angeles , Serafinowicz produced a 90-second video in which he parodied the coverage of the Academy Awards . He published it on YouTube , where it was seen by over 100,000 people in just two days, including the BBC , which then enabled him to produce his own television program. The Peter Serafinowicz Show started in autumn 2007 on BBC Two, in which Serafinowicz satirized various British TV formats. The following year he was awarded the Rose d'Or for the show, which was discontinued after seven episodes, as the best entertainer.

Peter Serafinowicz lives with his wife Sarah Alexander and their son in London .
