Blind Horizon - The Enemy In Me (Original Title Blind Horizon ) is an American thriller directed by Michael Haussman from 2003 .

action

In New Mexico , a man is found shot in the desert who has lost his memory. The man is being taken to a hospital. His memory only returns in fragments. He sees pictures and drawings flicker in his mind. After a few days, his fiancée suddenly shows up at the hospital and says his name is Frank Kavanaugh. Of course, he doesn't remember her either. But then he thinks that the puzzle pieces in his brain can identify a danger to the President of the United States . His call from the hospital to the Secret Service causes two agents to visit him. But when he can't even remember the name of the current president, they leave the hospital shaking their heads.

The local sheriff questions him, but finally agrees that he can leave the hospital - but he has to stay in town. There he constantly sees people whom he thinks he knows or who seem to know him. Some of them are later found dead.

When a few days later it surprisingly turns out that the president will be visiting the sleepy town on the Mexican border, the sheriff begins to believe him.

In the end, however, it turns out that the man himself is an assassin who, along with two others, is set on the president. He was shot in the desert by his alleged fiancé, a Secret Service agent who is now monitoring him. This is then shot by another assassin with a sniper rifle because she was not paying attention to her cover. When Frank later has the president in the sights of his rifle, he decides at the last second to kill the remaining assassin instead of the president. He escapes unmolested with the unsuspecting nurse who cared for him in the hospital.

Reviews

  • Ed Gonzalez wrote in Slant Magazine that the film would remind him of a bad episode of the X-Files .
  • David Nusair wrote on Reel Film Reviews that there was nothing to remember. He criticized the "disturbing" fast cuts. Some questions, such as who was behind the masterminds and motives for the attack, would ultimately go unanswered.
