action

Bridget Jones, in her mid-thirties, believes she has finally found the man for life. It is the lawyer Mark Darcy who she met at the end of the first part after many embarrassments and mishaps. Bridget sees the chances of a lasting relationship with him dwindle, however, when she gets competition from Mark's colleague Rebecca. She beats this in the lawyers' association quiz and can ski better, as Bridget finds out, than shows up on her ski vacation with Mark Rebecca.

Jones's best friends Shazzer, Jude, and Tom give her advice on how to end her relationship with Darcy because of Rebecca and the fact that he still hasn't proposed to Bridget.

Because of her job in television, Bridget has to go to Thailand for a report with Daniel Cleaver, where he almost manages to seduce her again. When they are about to sleep together, a Thai stripper comes into the room at Cleaver's order, whereupon Bridget leaves him for good. At the airport, the police still find drugs in a present from Shazzer's vacation friend that Bridget had in her suitcase. She is arrested and taken to a Thai women's prison, where she teaches Madonna songs to her fellow prisoners , while Mark Darcy alerts the British government to get Bridget out of prison.

Back in England, she finds out that Rebecca is a lesbian and has fallen in love with her. Darcy also makes her long-awaited marriage proposal.

Reviews

“The romantic comedy does not have the stringency and freshness of the original, but inspires thanks to the convincing leading actors and the eccentric characters, above all Bridget Jones, who, as the female Don Quixote of the modern city, persistently emulates her ideal of the perfect woman and a perfect relationship. "

“The viewers get what they want to see. More exotic locations, more speed, more Bridget, more Mark Darcy ... but less originality. That can certainly be criticized, but if you want to be entertained for almost two hours and don't let that put you off, you will make a good choice with "Bridget Jones - On the Edge of Madness". "

"Continuation distorted into satire with moderate fun factor, but good actors."

Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast delighted audiences around the world, the sequel is not inferior to the first edition in terms of understandable punchlines and popular humor, on the contrary. This is where the situation comedy pops . A hearty, violent romantic comedy. "

Awards (selection)

The film was nominated for various awards, but could not win any. Leading actress Renée Zellweger was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category “Best Actress - Musical or Comedy” .

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating "valuable".
