Can not Get You Out of My Head is a dance-pop - song of the Australian singer Kylie Minogue . The piece was released in September 2001 as the lead single from Minogue's eighth studio album Fever .

Emergence

Can't Get You Out of My Head was written by Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis in the fall of 2000 . Both were brought together via Universal by Simon Fuller , who requested a song from the two for the British band S Club 7 . The song was recorded using Cubase , on the one Davis 125 bpm fast drum loop happening. Davis also played acoustic guitar while Dennis sang the line "I just can't get you out of my head". The demo recording was completed after about three hours. However, after Fuller heard her, he turned down the song for S Club 7. Even Sophie Ellis-Bextor refused to accept the piece. Shortly after, Davis met Minouge's A&R manager Jamie Nelson and gave him the demo recording. Nelson enjoyed the recording and booked Minogue to record the song later that year. After hearing the beginning of the demo recording, Minogue was delighted too:

“My A&R at the time, Miles Leonard and Jamie Nelson, said, 'We've got something. Come into the office. We've got to play you something. ' So I went to the EMI office, and I had the same reaction you did, about 20 seconds in. I couldn't even fathom what I was hearing. It just ... did something. I was beside myself. Then at the end of the song, panic set in. I was saying 'Are you sure we've got this song? Don't tell me that we don't! Is it secured? Can we have it? ' And we did! And that kick-started a whole different phase in my career. "

“My A&R managers at the time, Miles Leonard and Jamie Nelson, said, 'We have something for you, come to the office, we have to play something for you'. So I went to the EMI office and responded just like you did after about 20 seconds of listening. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It did something to me. I stood next to me. Then, at the end of the song, panic set in. I said 'Are you sure we have this song? Don't tell me we don't have it. Is it safe? Can we have him? ' And we had him. And that started a completely different phase in my career. "

reception

As part of the album review for Fever , Alexander Cordas from Laut.de considers Can't Get You Out of My Head to be one of the few good songs on the album. Allmusic's Chris True describes the song as "a mid-tempo dance number that pulsates and grooves like no Minogue song before". For Billboard's Jason Lipshutz , Can't Get You Out of My Head still sounds "fresh, progressive and lively" 13 years after its release.
