James Nicholas Callis (born June 4, 1971 in London , England ) is a British actor .

Life

James Callis comes from a middle-class background; his parents own a bed and breakfast on Baker Street in London, the same street where the Sherlock Holmes Museum is located.

Callis studied English and Literature at the University of York and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1993 . He then attended the three-year course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and graduated in 1996.

Shortly thereafter, Callis got the first film and television offers, which were initially limited to England. But from 2000, when he got a supporting role in Arabian Nights - Adventures from 1001 Nights , film offers from the United States followed. Callis appeared in 73 episodes of Battlestar Galactica , for which he was awarded the Saturn Award in 2005. In 2010 he starred in the series Eureka - The Secret City and FlashForward .

Callis is married and has three children.
