Rolf Radich

Rolf Rettich (born June 9, 1929 in Erfurt , † October 25, 2009 in Vordorf ) was a German author and illustrator of children's books and animator .

Life

Rolf Rettich first learned surveyor and was self-taught to his later career as an illustrator and children's author.

Radich illustrated books by James Krüss , Astrid Lindgren , Michael Ende , Wolfgang Ecke , Othmar Franz Lang and Christine Nöstlinger as well as the American author Judith Viorst . He also wrote children's books such as "Grandparents Child" or "The Little Bear". For the latter he received the honorary award in the international picture book competition. Several books by Rolf Rettich have been selected as the “Most Beautiful Book of the Year” by the Book Art Foundation .

Awards

In 1997, Margret and Rolf Rettich received the Grand Prize of the German Academy for Children's and Young Adult Literature for their complete work . The primary school in Vordorf is named after his wife and him.
