Wolfgang corner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Ecke (born November 24, 1927 in Radebeul , † October 24, 1983 in Murnau am Staffelsee ) was a German writer . He became known for his radio plays and books, mainly crime novels for children and young people.

Live and act

In 1940, Ecke went to a military boarding school in Bückeburg and was probably drafted into military service shortly before the end of the war. After 1945 he attended the Dresden University of Music and Theater. But since he was a “non-worker and farmer child”, he was expelled from the university in Dresden after only two semesters. Corner then moved to West Germany. From then on he worked in various fields, including a. as an interpreter , sailor , smuggler , waiter , drummer and arranger, civil servant, advertising manager and reporter .

In 1955, Ecke wrote his first radio play, which was followed by hundreds more. From 1964 he published his crime stories in books.

Wolfgang Ecke was killed in a car accident in 1983 when he tried to avoid a cow with his vehicle.

He has written over 600 radio plays, innumerable of which, like most of his books, have been translated into many languages. He was a permanent contributor to radio stations at home and abroad, wrote for youth magazines and produced records.

Works

Wolfgang Eckes works for children and young people are characterized by puzzles and a realistic ambience. Ecke's most popular characters include the London department store detective Perry Clifton , who consists of nine books on his shared adventures with his neighbor's son Dicki Miller, and the heavyweight, buttermilk-drinking master detective Balduin Pfiff .

Beginning with the series Who cracks the nut , Ecke also wrote crime novels, at the end of which the young readers have to guess the perpetrator themselves. This concept was continued under the name Club of Detectives , whose cases can be solved by a logical combination or sometimes by a single reference to a picture that belonged to the relevant story.

All in all, it wasn't the brutal crime that mattered to him, but rather the thought-provoking and bloodless stories.
