Balduin Pfiff is a fictional novel and radio play character by the German author Wolfgang Ecke (1927–1983). The adventures of the fat little master detective with his dog brush , his Kunigunde revolver (which is actually just a cigar lighter) and his great preference for liters of cold buttermilk were written between 1975 and 1983. Later first publications, mainly in book form by the publishers Loewe and Otto Maier Ravensburg (up to 1987), come from the author's estate.

The third factor in the success was the radio play versions of the stories. In the role of Balduin Pfiff, the experienced German actor and cabaret artist Hans Jürgen Diedrich (1923–2012) was engaged , whose voice and manner of speaking matched the figure's chunky, rebellious overall image perfectly, as well as its funny adventures. Baldwin whistle radio plays

With the exception of the two publications The Lady with the Black Lacquered Fingernails and The General of the Dwarfs , all long-playing record productions are designed as radio plays.
