coat of arms

Vordorf - coat of arms.jpg

Blazon : Above a blue shield base with three golden acorns on a golden background there is a red-tried, left-turning blue lion with a red tongue in an upright position. The lion is surrounded by five red hearts. In the uppermost part of the head of the shield, the place names of the three municipalities Eickhorst, Rethen and Vordorf are listed on a silver background.

The blue lion and the red hearts on a golden background show the influence of Lüneburg , to which the villages of the municipality were subject up to a few decades. The coat of arms thus refers to the Lüneburg coat of arms, which is based on the Danish coat of arms. The blue lion and red heart have been part of the Danish coat of arms since Waldemar I. This combination is relatively common in various versions in the vicinity - examples are the district of Gifhorn or Fallersleben . The three interconnected acorns symbolize the three united communities Eickhorst, Rethen and Vordorf.
