Giebel is a community-free area in the southeast of the Gifhorn district in Lower Saxony. It is located in the eponymous gable moor , which is part of the Drömling .
geography
The area has an area of 10.36 km² and is uninhabited. The residential area "Giebel, Forsthaus" with a population of seven belongs as an exclave with a size of around 400 by 200 meters to the municipality of Parsau.
The area is enclosed by the joint municipality of Brome and borders on its member municipalities Rorien (south and west) and Parsau (east and north as well as an exclave in the south) as well as over a 700 meter long section in the south to the city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen (district Buchhorst ), in the district of Börde , Saxony-Anhalt .
Until 1974 the area belonged to the district of Helmstedt .
In addition to the Giebelmoor nature reserve, part of the Nördlicher Drömling nature reserve is in the community-free area.
To the southwest is the Große Giebelberg.

traffic
The district road K 85, also called Giebeldamm, runs through the area in an east-west direction for about two kilometers . It divides the gable moor into the small gable moor located north of the road and the large gable moor located to the south. The road meets the K 32 in the west, which in turn leads to Parsau in the north and to Rüllen in the south, where it is locally called “Giebelstrasse”. In the east you can reach the Parsau district of Kaiserwinkel on the former inner-German border via the K 85 . The forester's house Giebel, which belongs to the municipality of Parsau, is also located on the K 85.
