Am Großer Rhode is one of three community-free areas in the Wolfenbüttel district , Lower Saxony .

It has a total area of ​​5.79 km², which is divided into two roughly equal areas by the municipality of Kneitlingen . There are also borders to the municipality of Schöppenstedt (in the east and south), to the municipality of Erkerode (in the west) and to the exclave of the municipality of Evessen (in the north) in the same district as well as to the municipality-free area of ​​Königslutter in the Helmstedt district (also in the north).

The community-free area is uninhabited. For statistical reasons, however, it has the official municipality key 03 1 58 501.
