Remlingen-Semmenstedt is a municipality in the Wolfenbüttel district ( Lower Saxony ) that was created on November 1, 2016 through the merger of the municipalities of Remlingen and Semmenstedt . Remlingen-Semmenstedt is the second largest municipality in terms of area and the third largest in terms of population in the integrated municipality of Elm-Asse .

geography

The community area extends south of the Asse , where the Asse mine is also located, over a fertile loess loam and black earth landscape with little woodland, which is part of the hill country of East Brunswick . The highest point is the Remlinger Herse at 234  m , the lowest is in the west of the municipality on the border with Pillowbrück at 84  m . The area around Remlingen drains mainly west to the Oker , the area around Semmenstedt southeast to the Großer Graben in the Großer Bruch .

The federal road 79 ( Wolfenbüttel - Halberstadt ) runs through the community. In Semmenstedt it crosses the federal highway 82 , which leads from Schöppenstedt to Goslar . Other roads are the state road 512 from the B 82 to Börßum , the state road 513 from Remlingen to Pillowbrück and various district roads.
