Remlingen is a district of the municipality of Remlingen-Semmenstedt  in the Wolfenbüttel district . Remlingen is an old mining town on the Asse .

geography

Remlingen is located about 12 km southeast of the district town of Wolfenbüttel in the Remlinger Lößmulde , a part of the natural area of the East Brunswick hill country .

history

In 1022, Remlingen, at the southern tip of the Asse, is mentioned for the first time in written records, namely as Remninge. In the next few years, different spellings of the place appeared again and again, such as Ramnigge, Remnigge, Remmelinghe, Remminghe etc. In 1359 the spelling Remlingen used today occurs. The parish village of Remlingen was the seat of a superintendent with supervision of the parishes of Semmenstedt, Hedeper, Seinstedt, Winnigstedt, Achim, Pillowbrück, Neindorf, Groß Denkte and Groß Biewende. The mining captain and stable master Georg Engelhard von Löhneysen ran an important book printing company until the end of the 16th century , in which ducal writings and works on the mining industry were printed. The noble farm of the von Löhneyseschen family is in the knight's register . In front of the village there was a wooden post mill belonging to the estate.

The Asseschacht , which was sunk from 1898 onwards, was of particular importance for Remlingen's development . In 1906 the construction of the mine began. In the years 1908 to 1926, mainly the carnallite potash store north of the shaft was dismantled. The Kali -Rohsalzförderung later in favor of rock salt over. In 1964, the plant was closed. After its closure, the shaft was expanded to become a research facility and a final storage facility for radioactive residues. The town's coat of arms testifies to this development: in blue a golden tip with a blue mallet and blue iron, crossed diagonally, represents mining, top right a golden gear wheel stands for trade, industry and craft, top left a golden ploughshare for agriculture and gardening.

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Groß Biewende and Klein Biewende were incorporated. On November 1, 2016, the two municipalities of Remlingen and Semmenstedt were merged to form the new municipality of Remlingen-Semmenstedt by resolution of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Culture and sights

Reconstruction of the wall chamber in Remlingen
  • The Romanesque village church of Remlingen already existed in 1234, was badly damaged after extensions in 1508 and restoration in 1772 during World War II and was later restored.
  • In 1987, Norbert Koch, a local home nurse from Remlingen, discovered the wall chamber of Remlingen during a field inspection on the Hohberg . Excavations carried out in 1997 revealed a wall chamber grave . In the northern Harz foreland of Lower Saxony , this type of grave could be detected here for the first time. With the up to 50 cm high enclosure wall made of foreign stones, the stone paving and the clearly recognizable remains of charred wood of the collapsed roof, there were good opportunities for the reconstruction of the wall chamber, which took place in Remlingen.

Economy and Infrastructure

Companies

In mid-2007 the construction of a biogas plant in Feldmark at Kreisstraße 20 in the direction of Klein Vahlberg began. The turbine output should be 550 kWh and heat public buildings and a local company in winter. In summer, the ORC process converts part of the heat generated into electrical energy and feeds it into the grid. You want to heat the swimming pool with a little residual heat. The operator is Greenvironment GmbH in Berlin.

education

In 1961, the first school building was erected in Remlingen in several construction phases. In previous years, the students had to go to the current administration building of the Asse parish and also use the church's current parish room as a second classroom. Due to the increasing number of pupils, the school building was expanded in 1970/1971. The gym was built in 1972 .

In 1999, a new extension created six more classrooms. The front part of the old building is now used exclusively by the primary school. The old building facing the sports field and the new extension are shared by the secondary school and secondary school .

In 2003, the level of orientation was abolished by politics . In 2004 the school in Remlingen began to be expanded again. A new building was built that extends over three floors and also contains space for scientific rooms. Priority use of these rooms is reserved for the fifth to sixth grades.

The school also participates in regional projects such as: the Comenius program , the environmental school and the exchange with the French.

In 2004 and 2006 the school received the rating of environmental school. In the middle of 2007 solar cells were put into operation on the main roof of the school. In 2008 there will be a direct connection to the newly built biogas plant , which will also heat the swimming pool and other buildings in Remlingen and supply them with electricity in the summer months.
