In the joint municipality of Asse in the Wolfenbüttel district in Lower Saxony , seven municipalities had come together to handle their administrative business.
On October 5, 2011, a future contract with the state of Lower Saxony has been closed, the merger with the Samtgemeinde Schöppenstedt to Elm-Asse had planned on January 1, 2015. As part of this future contract, the state takes over 75 percent of the cash loans of the two merging municipalities.
