The joint municipality of Elm-Asse is a joint municipality in the district of Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony . It was created on January 1, 2015 from the previous joint municipalities Asse and Schöppenstedt . Its administrative seat is the city of Schöppenstedt . In Remlingen there is a branch office including a citizens' office.

In June 2011 a future contract for the merger was signed. The merger plans were motivated by high municipal debts and the dwindling population. The councils of the joint municipalities of Asse and Schöppenstedt approved the merger to form the joint municipality of Elm-Asse in October 2013.

The member communities Remlingen and Semmenstedt merged on November 1, 2016 to form the new community Remlingen-Semmenstedt.

Joint mayor of the municipality

Regina Bollmeier has been the mayor of the municipality since January 1st, 2015. In the last mayoral election on November 16, 2014, she was elected with 59.36% of the vote against a competitor. The turnout was 44.11%.

Blazon : The coat of arms shows in a golden shield a ten-leaf green beech growing from a corrugated green shield base; the base of the shield is covered in bars with two square silver salt crystals standing on the tip. "

The coat of arms was designed by the local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and decided on October 29, 2013 by the municipality to be used as a guide. It refers to the hilly geography of the region, to the rich beech population as well as to the salt production as an economic activity carried out over generations.

The colors of the community are: green-yellow.
