The joint municipality Baddeckestedt is a joint municipality in the district of Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony . Six municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is located in the municipality of Baddeckestedt .

Geographical location
The joint municipality area is an exclave of the Wolfenbüttel district, as it lies west of the independent city of Salzgitter and is separated by this from the other communities in the district.

history
On March 1, 1974, 18 villages from the districts of Wolfenbüttel and Goslar were merged to form the joint municipality of Baddeckestedt as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony . Until its dissolution on December 31, 2004, the integrated community belonged to the Braunschweig administrative district .

The council of the joint municipality Baddeckestedt consists of 26 councilors. This is the specified number for a joint municipality with a population between 10,001 and 11,000 inhabitants. The 26 council members are elected for five years each by local elections. The current term of office begins on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.
The full-time Mayor of the Joint Community, Klaus Kubitschke (non-party), is also entitled to vote in the Council of the Joint Community.
Since the last local election on September 11, 2016, the Samtgemeinderat has been composed as follows (change from 2011):

Joint mayor of the municipality
Mayor of the municipality is Klaus Kubitschke (non-party). His term of office began on November 1, 2016. In the mayoral election on September 11, 2016, he was the only candidate and candidate from the CDU and SPD to receive an absolute majority with 79.2 percent of the votes. Kubitschke had previously been employed as a treasurer at Baddeckestedt for 24 years.

Baddeckestedt has a train station on the Hildesheim – Goslar line and a motorway connection to the federal motorway 39 in the direction of Salzgitter, Braunschweig and Wolfsburg.
