coat of arms
The draft of the municipal coat of arms of Dahlum comes from the Wolfenbüttel State Archives . It was drawn by the heraldist and coat of arms painter Gustav Völker , who designed all coats of arms in the Hanover region. On March 1, 1974, through a merger of the localities of Groß Dahlum and Klein Dahlum, the municipality of Dahlum was created. The district of Wolfenbüttel approved the wish of the community to continue the old coat of arms of Groß Dahlum, which was approved by the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior on October 31, 1952 .
Blazon : "In the divided shield above in red a striding right-wing golden lion , below in gold, two black rafters sprinkledwith red hearts on the field." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The lion, which is depicted welfisch , indicates the centuries-long rule of the Brunswick state , which was exercised here at the seat of the Voigtdahlum office . The lower part of the shield shows the coat of arms of the noble von Dahlum family , who had their ancestral seat in the municipality. |
