In addition, it also creates security and order.

history

The development of the community-free areas in the Upper Harz is related to the history of mining. The unincorporated area of Harz in its current dimensions was created on July 1, 1972 with the division of the district of Zellerfeld into the two districts of Goslar and Osterode am Harz : The former unincorporated area of Harz was divided into the two unincorporated areas of Harz (district of Goslar) and Harz (district Osterode) shared. With the connection of the Osterode district to the Göttingen district, the southern part became the Harz (Göttingen district) at the end of 2016 .

On January 1, 1980, the community-free areas Braunlage , Gittelde , Hahausen , Harzburg II , Hohegeiß , Langelsheim , Riechenberger Klosterforsten , Seesen I , Seesen II and Wolfshagen were incorporated into the community-free area Harz (district of Goslar). Before the Goslar district was enlarged, they belonged to the Blankenburg , Gandersheim and Wolfenbüttel districts .
