Hahausen is a municipality in the Samtgemeinde Lutter am Barenberge in the district of Goslar in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location
The municipality of Hahausen is located on the northwestern edge of the Harz Mountains and in the west of the Goslar district. The closest localities are Seesen in the south, Rhüden in the west and Lutter am Barenberge in the north and Langelsheim in the east.
Neighboring communities
The municipality of Hahausen borders in the north on the spots Lutter am Barenberge, in the east on the town of Langelsheim, in the southeast on the non-parish Harz region and in the southwest on the town of Seesen (all district of Goslar) and in the northwest on the town of Bockenem ( district of Hildesheim ) .

history
The community was first mentioned in a document from Heinrich II in 1021. In 1209, a church was first documented in the place. As a result of the Hildesheim collegiate feud , ownership changed from the Ringelheim Monastery to the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel in 1523 . The place was a border town to the Principality of Göttingen .
On August 27, 1626, the battle of Lutter am Barenberge was fought between Hahausen and Lutter between the army of the Catholic League under Tilly and the army of the Lower Saxony district under the Danish King Christian . The troops of Tilly had their positions in Hahausen, which was largely destroyed the day before by Christian's troops. In the Thirty Years' War the church was damaged, later repaired and demolished in 1794 and replaced with a new one.

Old names of the place are around 1021 Hahusen, 1131 Hagehusen, 1154 Hagehusen, 1154 Hagehusen and around 1157 Hagehusen.
The name is composed of "Hag (en)", belongs to "hagan, hagen", a further training to "-hag, -hac, hag" ("Fencing, fenced property, pasture, hedge") and "-hūsen" ( "At the houses, settlement, village").

The coat of arms is divided into four. The non-heraldic upper left corner shows a golden six-spoke wheel on a blue background, which stands for the former trading company in Neuekrug and the exposed location in the road network (connection to Seesen , Goslar , Braunschweig ). Below is a blue oak leaf, representative of the forest in the south of Hahausen. In the non-heraldic upper right corner there is a blue ear of barley on a golden background. This symbolizes the important aspects of agriculture for Hahausen. The golden beer mug on a blue background below stands for the district of Neuekrug, which used to be a rest and relaxation area .

Hahausen is on federal highways 82 and 248 . To the west, the A 7 runs about five kilometers away (junction Rhüden, no. 66).
In Hahausen, the Neuekrug-Hahausen – Goslar line branches off from the Braunschweig – Kreiensen line ; however, the station is no longer served.
education
There used to be a school in Hahausen, which is now used as a village community center. Nowadays, the primary school students mostly go to the Kurt Klay primary school in Lutter and the higher grades (high school and high school) visit the school center in Seesen.
Culture and sights
Hahausen is a village characterized by agricultural farms and has a lively club life. With its location on the northwestern edge of the Harz, the village has an extensive hiking and recreational area.

With the St. Romanus Church , Hahausen owns an Evangelical Lutheran church that belongs to the Gandersheim-Seesen Propstei . Since 1951 Nauen has also been part of the parish of Hahausen.
