Nauen is a district of the borough Lutter am Barenberge in the district of Goslar , Lower Saxony. In October 2017 the village had 351 inhabitants.

location

Nauen is located in the northwestern Harz foreland at about 180 meters above sea level. NN. Bodenstein is two kilometers north-northwest . The center of Lutter am Barenberge is three kilometers northeast of Nauen. In the south is Hahausen , which is three and a half kilometers away.

The place is on the edge of the wooded Nauer Mountains, which rise rapidly on the western edge of the village. It is a ridge of the Innerstebergland .

On March 1, 1974, Nauen was incorporated together with Ostlutter in the Lutter am Barenberge area.

Despite its small size, Nauen is well developed for tourism. There are two cafes in the village. The main attraction is the Eidechsengrund forest adventure trail in the Nauer Mountains , which was newly laid out in 2011. Several display boards provide information about the local vegetation, history and forestry. Worth mentioning are the oaks "Oma und Opa", which are over 250 years old, the viewing platform southwest of the village and the "Ohe Hut" of the Harz Club .

There is also the small village church in the center of the village.

Agriculture

There are still a few farms in the village. With the exception of the west, Nauen is completely surrounded by fields. Mainly rapeseed and wheat are grown.

Transport links

Nauen can be reached from the east via two side roads that branch off from the federal road 248 between Seesen and Lutter am Barenberge. In addition, another road leads north towards Bodenstein.

The Braunschweig – Kreiensen railway runs through Nauen and had a stop here until 1988. The next train stations are in Seesen and Salzgitter-Ringelheim .
