The community-free area Schöningen is one of five community-free areas in the district of Helmstedt , Lower Saxony . The name of the area is derived from the neighboring town of Schöningen .

It has an area of ​​11.92 km² and borders clockwise in the north on the communities Räbke and Warberg , in the east on the city of Schöningen and in the south on the community Söllingen in the same district. In the west there is a border with the community-free area Voigtsdahlum in the district of Wolfenbüttel .

The community-free area is uninhabited. For statistical reasons, however, it has the official municipality key 03 1 54 506.
