The community-free area Solling (officially Solling (District Northeim) ) is a community-free area in the district of Northeim , Lower Saxony . The name of the area is derived from the Solling low mountain range .

The area has an area of ​​177.49 km², making it the fourth largest municipality-free area in Lower Saxony and the fifth largest nationwide.

It includes the forest areas of the Solling in the district of Northeim, which are not assigned to any municipality. It borders clockwise in the east on the cities Dassel and Moringen and in the south on the city Uslar and the patches Bodenfelde of the same district. Furthermore, it borders on the Hessian district of Kassel in the south and on the district of Holzminden in the west .

The community-free area is uninhabited. For statistical reasons, however, it has the official municipality key 03 1 55 501.
