Rennau is a municipality in the Helmstedt district in Lower Saxony (Germany). The community Rennau is a member congregation of the joint community Grasleben .

location

Rennau is located northwest of Helmstedt in the Elm-Lappwald Nature Park and is the southeasternmost tip of the Hasenwinkel .

Community structure

The municipality of Rennau consists of three districts:

The Trendel estate, which is located a few kilometers south of Rennau, directly on federal motorway 2, also belongs to the community .

history

In 1022 the community was first mentioned in an episcopal Hildesheim document.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the communities Ahmstorf and Rottorf were incorporated.

The chapel in Rennau part of the 2007 founded parish Hasenwinkel and thus to the church district Wolfsburg-Wittingen in Sprengel Lüneburg the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover .

economy

With the exception of a butcher, a bus company and a now closed hotel and conference center (Gudhorst), the municipality of Rennau has few commercial settlements. A joint industrial area proposed by the city of Helmstedt between the Helmstedt district of Barmke and the municipality of Rennau, directly on the federal motorway 2 , was rejected by the municipality of Rennau. The Rennau community has also decided to take economic development into its own hands and is against a planned centralization at the district level.

Rennau is to the west of the federal highway 244 and has a connection to the federal highway 2 from Hanover to Berlin in the immediate vicinity .
