The place is located northwest of Helmstedt in the Elm-Lappwald Nature Park and is the southeasternmost tip of the Hasenwinkel .

history

In the 13th century, the Counts of Dassel transferred their goods in Rottorf to the Mariental Monastery , and in 1256 the local chapel was assigned to the monastery with the consent of Bishop Volrad von Halberstadt . In the second half of the 19th century, the street village expanded to the west. On March 1, 1974, Rottorf was incorporated into the Rennau community.
