Süpplingen is a municipality in the district of Helmstedt in Lower Saxony (Germany). It is the seat of the combined community of Nord-Elm , to which five other communities belong.
geography
The community is located on the Schunter , about 6 km west of the district town of Helmstedt on federal highway 1 .
history
The place Süpplingen was first mentioned in the year 888 as Sophingi in an exchange document. Süpplingenburg , which emerged from a medieval castle complex, is located near Süpplingen .
In the second half of the 19th century, industrialization began in the area around Süpplingen. The focus was on sugar processing and lignite mining , the roots of which go back to around 1770, when coal was mined in open-cast mining.

Religions
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Lambertus is located in the center of the village. The parish belongs to the Königslutter provost.
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Bonifatius was built in 1899 on Breite Straße. Since 2008 the church belongs to the parish of St. Ludgeri in Helmstedt.
