Church in Rötgesbüttel

Rötgesbüttel has existed for more than 770 years. "Rotlekesbutle" was first mentioned in 1226. If you follow the place-name research on the origin of the "Büttel" places (compare Samtgemeinde Papenteich), the village is probably even a few centuries older. Already in the Middle Ages, the place was important for through traffic on the old trade route from Hamburg to Braunschweig.

A chapel was built in 1250 and an annex was added in 1928.

The old Gografenhaus , built in 1591, is the oldest house in town. This used to be the seat of the highest administration for the whole area.
