Ribbesbüttel is a municipality in the Gifhorn district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

Ribbesbüttel is located on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath on the Papenteich plateau, about 20 km north of Braunschweig and about 5 km south of Gifhorn. The municipality is part of the Isenbüttel municipality , which has its administrative seat in the Isenbüttel municipality . In the municipality, between the villages of Druffelbeck, Warmbüttel and east of Vollbüttel, the stream Vollbütteler Riede flows , west of Vollbüttel the Viehmoorgraben .

history

Ribbesbüttel was first mentioned in 1007 as the Rikbaldesgebutle and belongs to the Büttel villages in terms of settlement history . In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the rule of the noble lords of Meinersen , who were close to the Guelphs . When Duke Otto the Strict of Lüneburg took Meinersen Castle in 1316 , Ribbesbüttel came to the Principality of Lüneburg . Ribbesbüttel Castle was mentioned in 1548 and is shown on a Merian engraving from 1654. The current palace at the same location is a new building from 1906.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the community and the main part of the dissolved community Vollbüttel were incorporated.

The last municipal elections in 2016 resulted in the following composition of the municipal council (the results for 2011 in brackets):

  • CDU : 52.5% (48.5%), 7 seats (6 seats)
  • SPD : 43.8% (51.5%), 6 seats (7 seats)
  • Individual applicants Schöne: 3.7%

The turnout was 65.89% (54.13%.)
