Eugene Luisk

Eugen Luisk (born April 3, 1905 in Riga , † 1995 in Bobingen ) was a Baltic German painter. His work is characterized by large-format landscapes.

Luisk spent childhood and youth in Riga and St. Petersburg . After completing his school education, he began to study painting at the Art Academy in Riga . He joined the artist group Die Neun . Its first exhibition took place in 1928.

With the beginning of the Second World War , Luisk and his family were relocated to the Wartheland in 1939 . In 1941 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht , where he served as an interpreter for Russian. Shortly before the end of the war, he fell into Soviet captivity in 1945. After his release in 1956, he first settled in Augsburg and later in Bobingen. There he continued his artistic work.

Luisk exhibited in Frankfurt am Main , Berlin , in the Bonn House of History , in Würzburg , Hamburg , Munich and Paris .
