The joint community of Isenbüttel is located on the Papenteich plateau between the Harz and the heath and connects to the north-west of the city of Wolfsburg . Neighboring cities are Gifhorn , Wolfsburg and Braunschweig .

Waters

In the north of the Samtgemeinde the Allerkanal flows in an east-west direction. There are also several smaller streams that have their source in the Samtgemeinde or that cross them on their way. The directly elected mayor of the municipality is also entitled to vote. The non-party Hans-Friedrich Metzlaff was supported by the CDU and received a total of 69.9 percent of the vote on May 25, 2014. The turnout was 49.7 percent. For Metzlaff it is the second term of office after his first election in 2006 - due to his age it will also be his last. The SPD renounced its own candidate in favor of the incumbent. The 28-year-old challenger Bastian Till Nowak ran as an independent and non-partisan candidate and was supported by the Greens. Before that, he worked as an editor of a local newspaper in journalism in the Samtgemeinde and had never appeared politically. With 1,840 votes and a share of 30.1 percent of the overall result, the young politician immediately achieved a real surprise success.
