Geographical location
The municipality of Meinersen is located on the Papenteich plateau and in the Allerurstromtal between the Harz Mountains and the heath , north of the city of Braunschweig .
Waters
In addition to the two larger rivers, the Oker and Aller , which flow into one another when tired, there are also several smaller streams and bodies of water such as the Viehmoorgraben within the Meinersen municipality.

Demographic data
According to the Lower Saxony State Office for Statistics , in 2005 20,940 people lived in the Meinersen municipality in 6088 buildings with a total of 7977 apartments with an average living space of 44.3 m per person. Since the establishment of the joint municipality, the number of inhabitants has grown steadily, both through positive natural population development and positive net migration. In 2005, 23.70% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.30% between 18 and 25, 29.30% between 25 and 45, 24.00% between 45 and 64, and 14.70% were 65 years old or older older. The unemployment rate averaged 11.7% (men: 10.2%, women: 16.4%). 5,811 people regularly commute out of the integrated community, 1,375 in.

Joint mayor of the municipality
With the joint mayor election in 2007, the new Lower Saxony municipal constitution came into effect in the Meinersen joint municipality. With it ended the traditional personal separation between mayor (politics) and community director (administration), instead the "single track" was introduced. As part of Bundestag constituency 45 (Gifhorn - Peine) , Meinersen has been represented in the German Bundestag by Hubertus Heil (SPD) since 1998 . With the resignation of Ursula Von Der Leyens, Ingrid Pahlmann , who comes from the same constituency, moved up on the CDU 2019 state list .
