Ingrid Pahlmann (born December 1, 1957 in Gifhorn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag again since August 1, 2019 . She was previously a member of the 18th legislative period .

Life and work

After completing secondary school , Ingrid Pahlmann completed an apprenticeship as a rural housekeeper and then attended the technical school for housekeeping training in Celle and Hildesheim for two years . After graduating as a state-certified rural housekeeping manager, she worked for many years in her own farm, also as a rural housekeeping trainer.

Ingrid Pahlmann is married and has three children.

Social Commitment

Ingrid Pahlmann has for many years civically engaged. Among other things, she was a trainer and examiner for rural housekeeping, as well as a board member in the Gifhorner district working group for rural adult education in Lower Saxony eV (LEB). She was also represented on the board of the Alumni Association in Celle.

Ingrid Pahlmann has also been active with the rural women since 1980 , of which more than ten years as chairwoman of the rural women’s association in Gifhorn and the surrounding area, and from 2002 to 2014 as deputy chairwoman of the district women’s Gifhorn Süd. With the acquisition of the Bundestag mandate and the merger of the two Gifhorn district associations, she resigned from the board activities in January 2014.

When she assumed her seat in the Bundestag, Ingrid Pahlmann became a member of the jury for the German Citizens' Prize .

Ingrid Pahlmann is an honorary judge at the Agricultural Court and a member of the Albrecht Thaer Society and the Alliance for the Gifhorn Family .

Pahlmann has been chairwoman of the Gifhorn hospice work association since 2018.

Political commitment

In May 1998 Ingrid Pahlmann joined the CDU. She is also a member of the Women's Union and the Christian Democratic Workforce .

Ingrid Pahlmann has been a member of the Gifhorn City Council since the 2001 local elections in Lower Saxony . In 2006, 2011 and 2016 she was directly re-elected to the Gifhorn City Council. In 2011, the CDU parliamentary group in the Gifhorn City Council elected Ingrid Pahlmann as parliamentary group leader. Since 2006 she has also been a member of the administrative committee of the city of Gifhorn.

MPs

In the general election in 2013 Ingrid Pahlmann candidate for the CDU in the constituency Gifhorn-Peine . Previously, she had prevailed against several candidates in a primary election of party members. In the election on September 22, 2013 she received 42.1% of the first votes, but was defeated by the SPD candidate Hubertus Heil. In the German Bundestag, however, it moved into 14th place on the CDU state list of Lower Saxony.

Ingrid Pahlmann was a full member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the Committee on Food and Agriculture in the German Bundestag . She was deputy chairwoman of the subcommittee on civic engagement . She also worked here as chairwoman . Ingrid Pahlmann was also a deputy member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure and a member of the parliamentary committee of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag . Pahlmann was one of the 75 members of the Union who voted for the introduction of same-sex marriage.

On August 27, 2016, Pahlmann was unanimously re-elected as CDU direct candidate for the constituency of Gifhorn-Peine in a primary election of the party members. However, she was again just defeated by Hubertus Heil and her 6th place on the state list was not enough, as only the candidates up to 5th place could move into the Bundestag.

In July 2019, it was announced that she would replace Ursula von der Leyen in the Bundestag on August 1, as she resigned her mandate in the course of her election as EU Commission President. Since then she has been a deputy member of the committees for family, senior citizens, women and youth as well as for food and agriculture .
