In the integrated community of Wesendorf from the Gifhorn district in Lower Saxony , six communities have come together to handle their administrative business.

Geographical location
The integrated community of Wesendorf is located in the Gifhorn district on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath and connects to the city of Gifhorn to the north .
Joint community structure
The integrated community includes the member communities Groß Oesingen , Schönewörde , Ummern , Wagenhoff , Wahrenholz and Wesendorf . The seat of the administration is Wesendorf.
- Groß Oesingen community (2,029 inhabitants, 57.44 km²) with the districts Groß Oesingen, Klein Oesingen , Mahrenholz , Schmarloh , Texas and Zahrenholz
- Community Schönewörde (983 inhabitants, 17.73 km²) with Schönewörde
- Ummern municipality (1,593 inhabitants, 40.32 km²) with Ummern and the OT Pollhöfen
- Wagenhoff community (1,150 inhabitants, 4.32 km²) with Wagenhoff
- Municipality of Wahrenholz (3,839 inhabitants, 57.99 km²) with Wahrenholz and the OT Betzhorn , Teichgut , Weißenberge , Weißes Moor
- Wesendorf community (5,022 inhabitants, 31.23 km²) with Wesendorf and the OT Westerholz

Demographic data
According to the Lower Saxony State Office for Statistics , 14,528 people lived in 4,061 buildings with a total of 5,325 apartments and an average living space of 43.5 m per person in the combined community of Wesendorf. 24.60% of the population were under 18 years old in 2005, 9.30% between 18 and 25, 28.80% between 25 and 45, 23.10% between 45 and 64, and 14.30% were 65 years old or older older. The unemployment rate averaged 13.7% (men: 10.8%, women: 16.4%). 4,378 people regularly commute out of the integrated community, 1,263 in.

René Weber (CDU) has been the joint mayor of the municipality since November 1, 2014. The election as mayor of the entire municipality took place on May 25, 2014.
Town-community partnerships
The integrated municipality of Wesendorf has been in partnership with the French municipalities of Cuverville , Démouville and Saline - Sannerville ( Normandy ) since 1987 . In addition, there is a special municipal partnership in 1991 with the Paká municipalities in Hungary and the Radziejów district in Poland .
Culture
- The cultural association Samtgemeinde Wesendorf presents and organizes theater, music and musical performances in the Wesendorf cultural center.

Economy and Infrastructure
The agriculturally used area (112.5 km²) corresponds to more than half of the total municipality area. Commercial settlement areas are shown at locations with good transport links. The new “Hammerstein Park” industrial park (former Hammerstein barracks) with its properties and infrastructure was sold by the responsible federal authorities to private investors in January 2007 for civil redesign.
Tourism and recreation
Due to the geographical location with a large proportion of forest, moor and heather areas as well as running waters (Ise) and artificial and natural lakes, there is a great recreational value and, based on this, an expanding tourism industry with:
- Heide- and Heiliger Hain Nature Park in Betzhorn,
- extensive network of bike and hiking trails, forest nature trail,
- two sports and recreation parks with natural swimming lakes.

- The entire municipality is located at the intersection of federal highway 4 with state roads 284 and 286.
- Regional train Braunschweig-Uelzen with train station in Wahrenholz and stop in Schönewörde.
- Bus routes to Gifhorn , Ummern, Bokel , Hankensbüttel and Wittingen ; Citizens' bus within the integrated community and to Steinhorst .
- The Elbe Lateral Canal runs through the joint municipality in the eastern area with berths in the district of Wahrenholz, district of Weißes Moor.

- three primary schools in Groß Oesingen "Regenbogenschule", Wahrenholz and Wesendorf am Lerchenberg with a total of 809 students
- The Wesendorf Oberschule, which can be called the " European School ". It has been an all-day school since August 1, 2004 and has a cafeteria in which you are economically responsible.
