Wagenhoff is a municipality in the Gifhorn district in Lower Saxony . The Wagenhoff community is a member of the Wesendorf community .

geography

Geographical location

Wagenhoff is located between the Südheide and Elm-Lappwald nature parks . To Wagenhoff there is also a residential area north-west of the village , where the inn "Zur Krümme" was located.

history

Wagenhoff was founded in 1927, named after Eugen von Wagenhoff , district administrator of the Gifhorn district. Before that, a prisoner of war camp was set up there in 1914/15 , which belonged to the Gamsen community.

Municipal council

The council of Wagenhoff consists of 11 councilors. The last local election took place on September 11, 2016. Since then, the municipal council has been composed as follows:

mayor

The honorary mayor Egon Hillebrecht was re-elected on September 10, 2006. Claudia Bergmann (SPD) was elected as the new mayor in November 2016. Hartmut Bödecker (CDU) had previously held the office for 5 years.

Religions

There is no church in Wagenhoff. The Evangelical Lutheran residents belong to the parish of St. Johannis in Wesendorf , which in Wagenhoff uses the Christ Chapel on the communal cemetery. The Catholic residents belong to the parish of St. Marien in Wittingen , which has a church in the nearby Wesendorf.
