The Erixx GmbH as part of Netinera group is a non-State-owned railway company (NE), headquartered in Soltau . The company operates various railway lines in the Lüneburg Heath , in the Braunschweig region and in the Harz Mountains .
history
From December 2011 until 2019 the company has been operating the so-called Heidekreuz , consisting of the two railway lines crossing in Soltau, Hanover - Buchholz ( Heidebahn ) and Bremen – Uelzen ( American line ).
After the East Hanoverian Railways received the contract to operate the Heidekreuz in 2011, a new subsidiary was founded on April 18, 2011 as the operator of these routes under the name Heidekreuzbahn GmbH , based in Celle . Subsequent proposals for names were called in a competition. It was finally won by Daniel Benke with the proposal erixx - The Heidesprinter and the company was renamed erixx GmbH . The new name is made up of Erika , the botanical name for the heather plants , and the X symbolizing the heather cross .
The seat was relocated to Soltau at the end of 2011. The current managing director since July 1, 2013 is Wolfgang Kloppenburg. As the responsible project manager, Johann Ubben took care of the preparations for the start of operations in December 2011, and Wolfgang Birlin was managing director until 2013. The parent company NETINERA Germany is part of a group of companies under the leadership of the Italian state railway FS ( Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane ), the third largest transport group in Europe with € 8.3 billion in sales (2011) and almost 74,000 employees (2011) worldwide.
For the two routes were initially from the LNVG total of 27 railcars of type LINT 41 purchased, which here after December 11, 2011 under the short name erx be used. With LINT 54 railcars , the erixx rail company will also take over passenger transport on the Hanover - Hildesheim - Bad Harzburg, Braunschweig - Uelzen, Braunschweig - Goslar / Bad Harzburg and Lüneburg - Dannenberg railway lines from 2014 to 2029.
The extension of the regional railways from the Heidebahn via the Buchholz – Maschen freight bypass to Hamburg-Harburg achieved a positive result in a study by the State of Lower Saxony, but was postponed indefinitely due to a lack of capacity on this route. After a detailed check, an extension should be possible over the weekend without an intermediate stop, which the Lower Saxony regional transport company has commissioned erixx GmbH to do for three years from December 2018.
